  • Body lift. Dimensions??

I want tocarry out a body lift on my 2nd gen. Is there any way of telling if it's already had one (apart from the height, obviously!!)

What dimension should the body be from the wheel centre on a standard Surf? If mine is not this standard dimension, how can I tell if it's had a body or a suspension lift??

    Thanks

Easiest way to spot a body lift is to look under the rear arch above the wheel. If its has a body lift you will be able to see a gap (usually an inch or more) between the chassis rail and the body, if there's any form of rubber flap covering this area (not commonly done, but occasionally seen) its probably been lifted and had the flap fitted to cover the gap, lift the flap to check.

Theres 5 places on either side of the body where it sits on brackets on the chassis rails. The middle one on say the passenger side is roughly below the rear back door pillar. Have a look at it. The floor of the body should sit right down on the chassis bracket. If it doesnt it will have a spacer just like this white one in between the floor and the chassis bracket.

Hey- they look remarkably similar to the "laser_jock lift kit"!

My UK made 2" lift blocks plus uprated M12 stainless steel bolts. Just need a dry weekend to fit it all now.

That's one of the new sleeves that runs through the rubber bushing (not cut to final length yet). I'm not using M10 bolts like Toyota fit but M12 stainless bolts (40% stronger) hence bigger sleeves required.
