  • REAR Springs for the last time.

    Dear All,

I looked at all the rear end sag threads and see people talking about coil springs from three different places.

    Milners, LA SuperTrux and RoughTrax.

Milners are cheaper but are they any good, Will they give same end result as the Supertrux or Roughtrax versions.

I want to get it right in my mind before I spends me money.

    Thanks.

    Mike

Just to throw even more confusion in, there is also http://www.explorerprocomp.co.uk/ . They are the same suspension packages that LA Supertrux sell but a lot cheaper (they make em). Had a 2" lift setup on my truck for 15 months now and well pleased with it.

Know a few who have fitted, Explorer procomp & Supertrux & Milners etc ones, not heard anyone complain about any of them yet.

Suppose it depends on what you want to do.

I got the 20% stronger Milners ones which were fairly straightforward to fit and come in the nice blue colour. I tow a caravan a fair bit and these are more than happy with the extra weight. I have seen posts from people getting even stronger ones (possibly to give better off road performance?), but the stronger they are, the firmer the unloaded ride on the road.
Everything's easy, when you know how!

I fitted the Milner ones a while back and I am well pleased with them. They have made the hard suspension setting button almost redundant and the caravan is much more comfortable to tow now. The rear has not dropped a bit since fitting them in April. How long they will last, compared to the more expensive ones, I don't know.

When I asked Milners why theirs are so much cheaper they told me it is because they are UK made, so no overseas shipping, import tax etc and that they get them made in bulk, therefore get a quantity discount, which they pass on.

You pays your money and takes your choice.
          It's only a hobby!

I think I will go with the milner ones and see what happens.

            Thanks again.

I got the Milner ones fitted. Strange thing is when you put them side by side the Milner ones are about 2 inch smaller than the originals but when fitted the rear sits an inch or so higher.

The diameter of the steel on the new springs is thicker which makes them stronger, They will not sink as much while bearing any weight in comparison to your old ones.

You may have had +2" longer springs on before you replaced them. The milners springs are standard length but 20% stonger than standard, so as Marky said they sag less if you tow or carry a heavy weight.

I got the supertrux ones which are +2" longer and heavy duty (20% stroger) as I wanted the lift as well as the extra strength. (also probably why they cost more)

Milners do not do lift springs as the mods market is not one they want to be in at the mo, according to the manager we were chatting to at the National 4x4 show.
