different country so no point in me giving money figures but:
400kms would use 52 ltrs of fuel on my 2.4 1991
(ah heck thats £28 in your money but we pay very expensive road tax €750)

Jim. At 76p/ltr, (£39.52 for 52 ltrs) it means you are getting about the same mpg!! I thought you all ran on red over there

            in old fashioned terms :-

£40 of fuel at 77p litre is near enough 52 Litres ( as pete said !)

So you have done 400Kms on 52 litres or ....

            or 400kms on 11.5 gallons

or 248 miles on 11.5 gallons

or 21.5 Miles to the gallon.

Yay , I got there in the end !

I'd better not tell you I'm paying the equivilent of 27p/litre then, 'cause that would be just mean & of no benifit to any of you.

We can get it for around 27p/litre but it's a bit of a ruby like colour.

Im pretty pleased with the figures I just came up with:
                £20 = 26.5 litres (72.9) travelled 256k
                256 / 26.5 = 9.66 k/litre
                9.6 x 4.54 = 43.58 k/gall or 27m/gall

What are the official consumption figures?

So true, but you are in NZ which is a big enough benefit to us, to outweigh the other

I think you need an atlas. Find New Zealand....Ok, now left a bit...... no that's ocean, left a bit more....... That huge land mass is Australia. I'm there.

Northamptonshire....that's somewhere in France isn't it
                    You crazy Frenchman.

                      LOL!

I get 26mpg and have been known to suffer from 'heavy right foot syndrome' so quite pleased with the economy.

The 70 mile per day commute I can do without though....

I'm fed up with my milage.
only get 17 odd to the gallon around town. is that the norm then for all town driving ?
