  • air blowing out of oil filler hole

    Hi

Have just changed oil, and put engine on to check for leaks etc before i topped-up the oil further, I noticed with engine running and oil filler cap off, the air was blowing out of the oil filler hole - is this normal?

Yes. Diesels do pressurise the crankcase. As long as it isn't launching the dip stick you're ok.

nope - no pressure in the dipstick tube - so it hasnt flown out yet!,
since I posted this and panic subsided... i have done a search on the forum,
and as you say its often normal - i will probably check the breather tube anyway.
It used a bit of oil since the last oil change (3500 miles) just under 1/4 the way between F and L on the dipstick, not sure how much oil that equals.
Engine runs fine otherwise and has bags of power.
