It's going to depend on what you find under all that crud once its been blasted, but so long as you know someone than can, or are able, weld anything's possible
I should point out at this point that I am not allowed near:

So I don't understand why all Gen 3 rear axles are not the same? Why would they have different ratios? How would I know?
And why aren't they all the same width?
Axle housing should be the same but diff ratio depends if it come from a manual or auto. If yours is auto and you get another auto rear axle then it should be same ratio. Maybe look for the rear axle housing without diff and swap your diff in, if you know someone with a bit of mechanical knowledge.
Jesus, that is rusty! watch out for the upper arm mounts, they tend to gather water at the bottom and rot though, failing totally.
What is the chassis like? another failure point is the lower arm brackets where they meet the chassis.
if you choose to rehouse the axle (not too bad a job) I have a decent spare casing. it's not too much of a job to swap over, and you can do the axle seals at the same time and paint it up nicely with POR15 or similar.
Thanks Charlie, it would be a great help if I could drop by in the truck one day to talk to you about it. I'm in Paddington so I'm not a million miles away from you.
