Washer Jets

I've noticed since buying my '96 3rd Gen a couple of weeks ago that the washers are a bit pants. They work, but only just. I've tried using a pin to adjust the aim, and unblock any dirt, but they're just pants.

I'm wondering, as I'm getting a Heatshot fitted next week, has anyone fitted the fan type nozzles that you find on newer cars to a Surf? I'm also wondering if it's just the 20 year old water pump that's tired...
