  • Hilux surf 3.0 KZN130

    Hello,

I hope someone can help, Im fairly new to the forum however have had a good look for any answers so I do hope no one end up repeating themselves.

I have a Hilux Surf 3.0 KZN130, Unfortunately my truck was overheating and I replaced all the usual stuff such as thermostats waterpump checking radiator etc Ultimately leading to a new head (Actually found a crack so it was no brainer)
Not really a mechanic but I certainly am hands on so did it all myself, once putting everything back together successfully I realised I had left the dipstick tube in the back of the truck and now I am struggling to find out the best way to put it back in.
I have tried several ways but it doesn't seem to go in level, when starting the engine the only oil leak is from the dipstick tube hole which is obviously a problem. Does anyone have any pictures on this engine so I can see the direct route the dipstick travels to enter the hole?

    Thanks

The dipstick tube goes between the engine and inlet manifold, next to number one injector. Then down behind the pipes coming out of the back of the fuel pump, then ends behind the passenger side engine mount where it enters the block.
The job will be easier if you remove the passerger side front wheel.
        Hope that helps.

          Hi buddy,

Thanks for this info ive just done and its taken me 10 seconds, I cant believe it!!
The problem I having is it does seem like there is a minute gap, should there be a copper o ring, there is a rubber bit at the end of the tube which seals the hole but it feels like it would dislodge very easy. Am i missing something here or should it almost pushfit into the hole?

          Thanks for your help mate

i think theres meant to be a rubber ring on the part you push in just to make a seal

Thinking about it i am certain about the rubber ring. You should be able to get one from Halfords or other motor factors to fit it as it will be just a normal O ring
