  • LSD Diff ratio question

    Hi all,

I have a LSD diff on the rear my truck, looking a the codes it is a 4.100, 4 pinion Limited slip diff. Does this mean that the diff on the front will be the same ratio?

Sorry, I have a few more questions i can't find an answer for:

    1. If i want to go up to 33" (or even 35"!!) tyres, is this going to ruin the performance?

    2. What is the preferred ratio diff to go with 33" or 35"?

    Cheers

    James

in answer to question 1, yes the front diff will be the same ratio, so long as no one has installed an odd one prior to your ownership.

As for the remaining two, I'll leave those to the experts, although on a 3Ltr I wouldn't expect to much of a performance drop with 33's,other than being slightly slower from a standing start

The thing is, i am getting a fixed front axle for a possible SAS set up. I can ask for the diff to be swapped to match my 4.100, but would it be better to get another ratio in the from and change the diff in the back?

I've got a 3.0 2nd gen fitted with 33's and 4.88 diffs. At 70mph the engine is revving at 2800 revs which is a bit high. I am swapping in 4.56 gears to make the engine less 'revvy' The truck feels very nippy with the 4.88's which is fun around town.

On my experience I'd say 4.88's for 35's (the speedo should be close to correct too), or go 4.56's for 33's.

        hth a bit.
