Speedometer stopped working KZN185 3.0L

As above, speedo suddenly gave up. The needle bounced all over the place, played dead, came back to life, died and stayed dead.

Question is, is mine electronic or a cable and how do I find out easily?

This is an automatic transmission.

Found it. It looks like a sensor.

Before I buy a spare, are there any other wrinkles with the electron sort (such as needing the wiring re-doing?)

Still need help

O/D light also flashing along with speedo not registering anything.

Checked out the ECU and it looks as new as the day it was made. No leaks, no broken solder, nothing.

Totally stumped.

Anyone?
