diff numbers

Need help my rear diff (G295)is making whining noise on slowdown eg
When I take my foot of the gas,
I can get a secondhand one but it is (G294) would this be ok

G295 is a limited slip diff.
G294 is an open diff.

Check the condition and level of the diff oil.
Is the noise definitely coming from the rear axle? Could be just worn U/J.

Ok thanks I am going to take the prop shaft off on Saturday and take it for a spin with 4 wheel drive on to see if the noise stops.
Should this diff have transmission fluid or gear oil , Could have the wrong oil in it , Could the wrong oil make it whine ?

You need LSD oil, something like this.....


Ordinary diff oil will affect the limited slip operation rather than make any noises.

Thanks last week I jacked the rear up and put it in to gear got it up to 30 mph noise is coming from back off prop or diff hard to tell .
