Hi all,
Since my rear axle has a slight weep on the passenger's side I purchased a repair kit (bearing plus seals/washers) and I'm going to get it done this week. Some excellent write ups on here on how to do it
.
I have recently extended the rear diff breather and would also like to change the rear diff oil, a bit manky.
I can't get LSD compatible oil here, only CAT (Caterpillar) do an LSD Gear oil, comes in 210 Litre drums...
In fact the only oil available here for diff is standard 80W - 90, manual gearbox oil, from BP, Total etc.
I have however brought back with me from the US a tube of Champion LSD oil additive, with friction enhancers etc etc.
My LSD still works fine , I think, wheels spin together when raised, and I'd like to keep it functioning, I have a trip to Mozambique in the pipeline, which involves a lot of driving on deep sandy tracks.
Would the 80W - 90 oil combined with the additive be ok?
Thanks for you help!
