Converting to a DUALLY

I've got a gen2 Surf and wondered if its possible to convert it to a dually?

Has anyone done this before or know how to do it?

Is it that straight 4ward swapping over rear axles?

Or do you also need to match the rear diff on the real axle?

You need matching diffs front and rear to prevent wind up in four wheel drive

Why would you want to do this to a surf, what benefit do you see from having 6 wheels on a truck designed for four, other than a bigger hole in you wallet when buying a set of tyres ?

I've seen companies in both USA and OZ that do conversion kits... no1 wants to ship to the UK was is typical...

The obvious reason for using dual wheels is to accommodate extra load... but I'm purely interested in the cosmetic appeal.

I love duallies, always have... if I could do this to my truck I'd love it.

I know its important to get the diff's matched up, hence why I'm now looking at bolt on conversion kits. However there's also a lot of dispute over that option as unlike using a proper dually rear floating axle, with a conversion kit all the weight/stress is placed on the drive shaft and barrings so extra wear from the load is a consequence.

A proper dually floating rear axle is the best way using a Toyota Hiace rear axle (from the later yrs without the reported faults), but getting one to match the front diff is the problem... not sure its possible?

I would take my chances with a conversion hub... if I could get 1 in the UK or shipped over?

Ok so this guy on eBay has loads of twin rear axles...

Has anyone got an idea how to match up diff ratio's?
