Hi all, this might sound possibly irresponsible of me but I have not looked at an isofix equipped car to see what's involved before I consider doing this to my surf.
I would in no way put my infant son in danger if this is beyond my capabilities or going to be bridged and unsafe.
Our infant seat base is of the isofix typeset its a separate base from the seat. with our last surf and normal seat I had to fit a seat belt extension as the belt wasn't long enough and getting it in and out by undoing the belt every time was a pain in the hoop.
So I'm thinking of retro fitting the isofix brackets from a newer car if its as simple as drilling 2 holes and welding strengthening plates with captive nuts under/outside the seat base in the exact position they need to be so the seat base can locate and lock onto them.
Has anybody done anything similar?
Thanks,lee
