Quick servicing question

Since my last service in January I've only done around 1200 Km, mostly short trips to work and back, 5 or 6 km each way. Should I change the oil and filter? It's pretty black, but then it usually is a cple of days after a change..Thanks

Servicing is based on time or mileage. So most will say 6000m or 12 months. I would change oil and filter.

I'd leave it if its a good quality oil, 1200km & 6 months is nothing really.

If you have money to burn then do it.

No telling off, but short trips are not good for the engine or the oil.

from memory its actually oil every 3000 miles or 3 months and filter every 6000 miles or 6 months, personally I changed the filter every time I changed the oil

it would also depend on what type of oil you are using, Mineral, semi-synthetic or fully synthetic. There is a difference .

Here the choice of oils is a bit limited compared to Europe. I use TOTAL Quartz 4x4, fully synthetic. It is what they recommend here for turbo diesel engines. What do you think?

So do you think I should change it? it has done few Kms but mostly short trips, as mentioned in the original post. Also it has been in the engine since Jan and looks very black ( although it always does).

1200 kms since the last service, should not need changing at this stage.
