Hi, I recently lost power on my truck but engine has rev's. When I start engine from cold I have forward and reverse for about 10 minuets until engine warms up. I was told that the gearbox may have gone. I was then told that it could be the gear box filter needs changing, any ideas?

The auto box experts will be along soon but I think its more likely your gear box fluid needs changing. Check if it's gone a brownish colour...there was a thread on here once showing how the filter strainer was very clean, even on high mileage surfs.Originally posted by waz&cj View Post

You need to check the fluid. Not when its cold though. Run it up and get it warm. Cycle through all the gears, then check it. If it is a dirty brown colour it wants replacing under every circumstsnce.Non intercooled nothing.Comment

Did the level come ok on the dipstick. warm with engine running.Comment
