hello all, i have just got my gen 2 3L and have a few questions about her. it was suspected that the front diff was in its way out but we suspect its the rear. it was supplied with a front diff, i know nothing about them so please dont judge me im just using comsense to base my coments. now if i turn the output shafts on the front diff ive been provided nothing else turns and im guessing this is because they have lockers on them so they arnt always turning the whole diff and causing parosite drag. so due to the noise being constant even in 2wd we have deduced thet it is the rear diff making noise. also a give away was the stange of diff oul and leaking diff oil fron the wheel bearings in the rear axel. so how hard is it to change the rear bearings and seals ext? and to sumerise and hopefuly make sense,
1, front diffs have some kind of lockers that engages them and alows them to spin freely when not engaged (if not the diff ive been provided is fubar)
2, the rear diff smells and leaks oil so im hoping that seal replacement and top the oil up the diff will be quite
3, anything i should know mite be an issue before i jump in to the job?
4, also another thing, i have a chassis for another project, the rear springs are red and seem bigger, how can i tell if they are lift springs?
cheers folks! jack
