Does an 89/90 with a 2LT have an ECU?

They do but you only really need it on auto cars. Its only function on manual cars is as a timer for the glow plugs

just askin elvs, so what about my '91 surf with its 2LTE from the factory, now with a 2LT, can I sell the ECU for mucho bucks ???

Depends how good you are at joining wires together and if you know someone who wants a '91 manual ECU badly enough. I think the ECU's may be specific to the year and transmission type.

You are right there are 2 types of ECU for the 2lte, Auto and Manual transmission. The Auto ECU will work in the Manual car but not sure the other way round. Jim I paid £150 for a 2LTE ECU they are as rare as hen's teeth and there isn't anyone in the UK who can repair them.
