  • Front wheel arch trim removal

I recently bought a KZN130 after 10 years of LN130's and I've got the usual broken aerial problem. I know how to tackle it, having done it before but I'm struggling to remove the wheel arch trim.

It appears the inner and outer trims are fixed together and they have to come off as one. I've removed the mudflap and all of the self-tappers I can find, also the three yellow plastic clips but it doesn't want to budge.

Are there some hidden screws I've missed? Any help appreciated.

My LN130 had the usual screws but also a couple of rivets I had to drill out. Look for the rivets on the outer part near the flares.

I can see a couple of pop rivets but they just seem to join the inner and outer trim together.

I don't recall having to drill out rivets on my LN130

Somebody may have already done so before you bought it, I had to drill them out on my old truck

Just done the front on my KZN130.
You have to drill out 2 rivets.
In the centre of the arch - at the highest point - it is held on with an annoying bolt - the thread/stud is fibreglassed onto the actual trim. Take off the wheel arch liner (or pull it away at the top) to get to the bolt. If you try to pull the arch off it'll just rip the threaded stud out and damage the arch.

It will come off with the mudflap in place.

The inserts the screw go into are pressed into the holes AFTER the liner is offered up, so you need to remove the inserts, or pull the liner off over them. Similar thing for the threaded inserts around the wheel arch, you need to get the liner out from behind clips after taking the bolts out.

There is one rivet to drill out to, as mentioned.

They are a bit of a PITA, just takes some time. I just undo the back half, and them pull it forward out the enough to get to the arial, you don't need to remove the mudflap or outer arch.
