Centre console / floor mount handbrake mod

The Surf has a dash mounted handbrake - very annoying and requires modifying for the V8 conversion simple enough but thought Id look at other options.

Is the Hilux pickup handbrake or unit from Gen 3 mounted in the same place or floor mounted between the seats? If so has anyone got any pictures of the tunnel console they can post.

If the Hilux pickup has a floor mounted handbrake and centre console has anyone done the swap? How easy do you think it would be to retro fit the parts.

As an alternative I can head to the scrap yard and see what else might fit from other vehicles... or just move the original in board of the bulkhead like everyone else does but that would be boring.

As the handbrake mechanism is under the driver's seat, I did think about having a floor mounted lever between the seat and the door like the old Mk2 Jags used to have.

Ive got a Vitara breaker at home which I might be able to take the handbrake off - will need to remind myself of what its like and how big it is.

Ill take a look next time Im at the yard to see what the clearance is between the seat and the door.

The other thought I had was to flip the lever arm (circled red) over 180 deg so that it is almost central to the trans tunnel Ill need to see how much clearance there is with the body lift. The arm might be able to be reshaped to clear and a short section of cable run from the lever mounted inside to pull it.
