problems with 4 wheel drive

I recently got stuck in some mud and found my 4 wheel drive not to be engaging properly. Both the front and rear off side wheels were spinning but no rotation on the near side. I've used 4 wheel drive in the past with no problem. Could the issue lay in the transfer box?

well thats is normal!
since you dont have axle lockers!

Yeah, Andy's right, good news for the wallet, everything is fine, and do some research on how diffs work.
