  • Problems after fitting new head

Hi, just finished fitting a replacement head on my 94 3l turbo surf, it all went smoothly and started well but when revved produces clouds of black smoke and a loud, typically diesel clacking noise towards the back of the engine which dissapears on the overrun. Its definately down on power too. I've checked the valve timing and injector pump timing (not that I disturbed it anyway) and the only suggestion left is a faulty turbo hi pressure switch. Problem is, where is it? Any other suggestions? Ta. Bill.

hello mate first thing, where did you get the head from and did it do it before the old head was removed?

    Have you cleaned the injectors?

have you made sure all of the vac hoses are on?

have you re-checked the timing? you could be a tooth out

Are you mellowing and going all soft as you age ? Normally a 1st post like this would earn a reprimand from you, for not making a proper introduction.

          Problem solved!

Thanks for the help, it was the back two injector lines plumbed wrong despite being told that was impossible with rigid lines, its not. Easy swap, runs sweet as a nut.
