  • Diffs?

Anyone know if 3.0ltr and 2.4ltr halfshafts are the same size and
    spline count?
I have 3.0ltr diffs here, kindly donated by Gary R.
I want to fit these diffs to Lex VIII, wich is currently running 2.4ltr G144
    diffs.
    Still on a mission.

Have'nt actually looked at the diffs to check, when you said you swapped the
4.56 ratio diffs for 3.42, that was good enough for me(4.56 being 3.0ltr diffs)

Most 3.0 autos have 4.10 ratios (G294) - the 4.56 tends to show up on manuals. (G254)

Hmmm. I have a 3.0L Manual and it's the G294 4.10 Open Diffs This contradicts the above two opinions.

What am I missing? Or is it never a strict rule?

I know it's an old thread but I'm shit scared of starting a new one. Shit scared!

I said 'tends' to show up on manuals.

The G254 diffs are not very common. All the 3.0 autos I've seen have the G294/5 diff.

Whenever I've seen a G254 diff its been on a manual.

As to what you're missing, it's a different gear ratio. If you'd like your engine to rev a few hundred rpm higher at any given speed then swap in the 254s....

                    Thanks Rob.

I wasn't having a go. But that was obvious, right?

Just doing some searching and researching and I saw those two comments, back to back, which made me ask.

That's why I asked "what am I missing?".
