As TonyN advised in another thread - on how to check for a worn steering damper.
I have just had one end of the steering damper off, so that I could check it.
There is no obvious sign of leakage, and the chrome inner rod looked clean and shiny. I could push and pull the damper with one hand, with lots resistance both ways- so guess it is OK ? Does pushing it with one hand as a resistance test sound like its ok?
and not the cause of the rough ride at times.
