Four Wheel Drive

I have a 96 Surf 3L - The four wheel drive llight is flashing - it doesn't make any difference whether I press the 4WD button on or off it is just constantly flashing., Normally when the dirve is engaged the lights flash for a short time only. Any suggestions?

It's broken.



It'll usually be one of the position switches, split vacuum lines or the 4WD Solenoid on the back of the T/Case.

Whatever you do, don't let anyone take the solenoid apart untill its the last resort, they are a nightmare to get put back together and get the timing correct.

Thanks for the advice - I'll certainly not attempt it! I'll get a Hilux Specialist to do it

mine does it occasionally I usually just drive over some rough road-country lane etc and it goes off-I have started running it in 4WD once or twice a month just keep it going
