Ive recently bought a 1991 2.4 TD, and unfortunately the hand throttle knob is missing. Consequently, having not used one before, I have no idea which way to turn\push\pull it to adjust it.
Main reason for wanting to do this is that recently Ive found the fuel consumption to have gone up considerably, and I suspect it could be the that the hand throttle has been set to high inadvertently. Although I dont know that that is what it is.
Ive tried twisting and pulling it when idle to see if the revs change, but the needle doesnt move. It just stays idle at 900 rpm. Is this the correct idle rpm with the hand throttle not applied? Which direction should it be pushed\pulled\turned to adjust it? And is this likely to be the cause of the sudden increased fuel consumption? (nb: it had the cambelt changed last week, just before the fuel consumption rocketed up, would this be anything to do with it??)
Thanks in advance for your help!
