how do you get new fan belts back on

Hi People i have a 2.4 deisel surf, one of the 2 fan belts snapped , so i have taken off the other one , now i cant get the 2 new ones back over the double fan pullys, what am i doing wrong how do you get them back on ????, i can get the other 2 belts back on but i need to get the fan belts back on first ,any help cheers

Don't know if the 2.4 is the same as the 3 I've got but you have a tension adjustment system on the alternator which will need undoing to slacken the belts off. H
