  • how to fit a 1994 3.0td 4runner manual gearbox to a 1992 LN130 2.4td auto surf

Hi all just became a member tonight. Can anyone advise on the following. I have a 1994 4runner 3.0td engine and manual gearbox fitted to my 1991 surf modified chassis that needs a shell. I use a 1992 LN130 2.4td efi automatic every day and im going to use the shell of this complete with interior and wiring onto my modified chassis
keeping the manual gearbox attatched and bolting the 2.4 LN130 engine to it as the 3.0l engine needs turbo and alternator which i cant afford just now. I have pedals, clutch and flywheel, pipework and reservior and cylinder but what about wiring, the manual gearbox doesnt have switch for 4wheel drive its selected by the transfer lever. Also when i can repair 3.0td engine which has a manual pump and no ecu will 2.4 LN130 wiring allow this. Thankyou all.

its goin to be the 2.4td

Just sold 3.0td engine so its the 2.4td, make wiring engine easy but still worried about autobox wiring to manual box. Will clutch and brake pedal bolt into autobody as easy as it came out of manual body. Starting all this work on friday and have one week then back to work and this is our family vehicle so has to be done in the week. Can any you mechanical experts help. Mods are 4in LA Supertrux suspension lift, 5ins diy body lift, all welded together, shotblasted and hot dip galvanised, polybushes all round and bouncing on 35x14.5-15ins TSL Thornbirds fitted to 12.5x15ins black steel rims and 30mm spacers. Poor little engine.

As the proud owner of a manual 3.0 I'd advise you to stick with the auto.

The gear change is a tad agricultural and the fuel ecconomy advantage is hardly noticable.
