  • KZN problem

Gidday, I have a KZN surf with a 1-kzTE. I was driving it the other night and the water trap, Timing belt, and charge light came on all at the same time. I have checked altenator output and all is well. My fuel filter does'nt have a water trap, just a donaldson cartridge filter (which may be the problem). Timing belt has been recently replaced, but the light was truned off. I was driving in pretty heavy rain when this happened. Any ideas?

    Cheers
    Ben

Water in electrical system possibly, if it was fuel filter engine managment light would come on. I think.

Aye, probably just drenched the alternator. If it is just wet, it'll sort its self out pretty quickly. If it's gubbed, it won't.

When you say the alternator's output was OK, how did you test it and what readings did you get?

I agree with Al. Having said that, mine did this and shortly after it finally packed up. Again as Al said, check what o/p you have.

Hey all, thanks for the prompt answers. The blog would'nt let me post so i was unable to reply. Turns out the alternator had burnt of seperate phasings and would only charge between 1500-2500 rpm untill it got hot. So I managed to score a brand new altenator for dirt cheap and threw that in. (what a ###### easy job!). Runs perfectly now, plenty of cahrge to run all sorts of equipment

          cheers
