halfshaft to much play

hi got a 94 3 litre auto surf halfshaft on drivers side keeps coming out of cv joint anyone got any ideas cheers

What bit comes out? If you mean the shaft keeps coming out of the splined bit, then the circlip that's supposed to hold it in is not there.

If the bearings are coming out of the cup, there's something very seriously wrong...

By the way, that's not a halfshaft; halfshafts are in the back axle.

its not lifted mate its standard the shaft comes out where it goes into hub it comes out enough to lose drive to the wheel is there suppose to be a clip on this shaft cheers

The splined end of the shaft goes into the CV joint with a circlip that expands into a slot as it's pushed in!

is it a snap ring mate if so i cant see any groove around the shaft cheers

how far from end of the shaft is the groove the clip fits into mate cheers

Hi, mine was the same a little while ago. The groove is quite close to the end of the drive shaft (5-10mm i think). My cv joint was shot because it had chewed up the broken snap ring. If your cv isn't noisey try to get the bits of broken ring out before re-assembly and apply new grease.

It's pretty close. If your's has been coming out, it's probably gubbed.
