Is there a proper way to take the housing off for the front two courtesy lights above the rear view mirror on a gen2?

Only asking as I have snapped many clips in my day and don't want to bugger it up by just pulling in several directions trying to find the right way......

a 2lb lump hammer usually works

its just clipped in but they can be a bit tight - thin blade screwdriver worked a treat on mine.
