    hi to all im going to ask a question prob asked on here before but i cant find the answer so im asking it myself! ive got a 2.4td surf and my qusetion is are they all a bit sluggish up hill,i have read they are a bit underpowerd but i want a clear answer from people in the know,it pulls ok thru all the gears[auto] and other than uphill its fine,just wondered if ive got something to worry about any help would be great

    2.4's don't like hills, never driven one but from what other forum members have said they are totally gutless up hill.

    Easy remedy is to buy a 3.0 or drop a lexurf V8 in it.
    If its not broke don't fix it.

      They sure aren't the fastest up hills but like every other car, 1st port of call is a good service. Oil, air and fuel filters, make sure the tank breather isn't choked solid is a good start. Check turbo pipework for any leaks. If you search around, there is a small tweak you can do to the fuel pump which can make a small difference (didn't do anything notceable on mine).

          My 3.0 struggles a bit on the hills,

























          but I suppose towing a 1 tonne trailer behind it doesn't help!
