Hi lads. First post from downunder (NZ)
I recently bought a 95 Hilux Surf KZN185 and I've had some frustrating problems with 4WD not engaging.
From the beginnig it just wouldn't go into any 4WD mode and no matter what I did, the 4WD dash lights would just flash. At first I thought it was the transfer case motor so took that off, stripped it and test it - fine. So figured it must be electrical.
Tested a spare 4WD ECU and same problem. Followed all the wires and sensors and found that when I disconnected transfer indicator switches 2 & 4 located on the top of the transfer case, presto, it works! All 4WD modes work and the dash lights indicate as normal.
However I would of thought that under normal circumstances disconnecting sensors would stop 4WD working.
I'm now confused. Should I just leave it as is and not worry about the having these 2 sensors unplugged?
Cheers
Finn
