2.4 engine running problem

Can anyone help me with the following problem - the engine races when up to tempature! check light comes on and stays. Had same problem nearly a year ago toyota did diagnosic said it showed sensor on thermostat so changed sensor still raced good mech there said try changing thermostat then all settled down for nearly a year! now same problem came back did diagnostic again they said the sensors rarely go wrong and could not pin point it so I changed themo again and rad cap now when up to tempature the check light stays on and still races on it's own!! I can't be the only one out there thats had this prob!!!!

Any ideas please?
