can anyone help with my problem? my 1996 3ltr turbo diesel started missing, lost power then cut out,i changed the fuel filterwhich was full of water&some gunge.engine starts but misses, after a very short run losses power, however, after pumping hand primer on filter housing, engine comes back to life for a short time then you have to repeat the process, any help would be great, thanks

possibly a blocked breather on the fuel cap or a blocked pickup pipe filter in the fuel tank, could also be the primer does it stay firm once it's been pumped hard or does it lose the firmness when left (without the engine running)?HTH

Sounds like it's drawing air....would explain the water and dirt but so would a years old filter. Try and get hold of some clear fuel pipe and fit it on the feed to the pump. If there are air bubbles in it, then it's drawing more than fuel..........

Diaphragm in the primer is letting air in, if you pump until it goes hard and leave it for 30mins and it takes pumping again to harden i would assume it's naffed, my own can be left for this length of time and will take one pump to be solid again.

Roughtrax has a good name on here so i wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from them but if moneys tight you could get a S/H unit to tide you over from Tonyn or Any of the other breakers on here HTH
