Coolant flush, good or bad?

System on my 2.7 is looking very cruddy, is it worth investing in a decent coolant flush, or just drain and refill?

Is FORTE flush any good?

I didn't bother with the flush as i hear to many tails of damaged engines.
Just a good wash out with the garden hose, Toyota coolant & bleed "correctly"

Just make sure you get as much of the clean water out as possible, that way your coolant won't be to diluted.

I did my final rinse with distilled water, then got it out by one by one blowing through the heater pipes. As Toyota coolant is -35 a little distilled water won't change much.

Also when filling I left the top heater hose off till it came out no burping needed.

Drain, rinse, re-fill, pour flusher in, run, cool, drain, flush, rinse (for ages), re-fill, fit new 'stat and cap.

I use Forte.

You do want to use distilled for the rinse and mix with coolant (if un-dilluted)when filling, as tap water has all kinds of minerals in it that cause the scale and buildup you are trying to clean out of there.

Oh I agree but just didn't do it this time around & I do try & get as much water out as possible, I managed to get almost 10 litres of Toyota red in so there wasn't hardly any tap water remaining.
