    Air conditioning

    Hi
    does any one know how much the air con system takes for a complete re gas.
    i have a mate who is an air con engineer who will refil but he is not sure how much it takes.
    its a gen 3 surf
    hope someone can help

    I know the post is now very old and you probably have had it gassed by now,but rule of thumb should apply.

          thanks for the replies not that all were of use!!!!!!
          take note of the last ones and if you were a mechanic would you know the torque settings of all the bolts on any engine!!!!! i think not
          anyway back to the point it takes exatly 1kg of gas incase you need for future refernce and it costed exactly £5 a little cheeper than quick fit

            I would not expect a "car" mechanic to know all the torque values of all the bolts on all the engines,instead I would expect them to refer to the technical spec of that particular engine. But I would expect someone who is going to call themselves an air-con engineer to understand the very basic rule of thumb ie subcooling/superheat.If not then that is why I stated to "Charge slowly till the sight glass clears."
            My advice was not meant to be condescending it is upto to you to follow or discard any freely given advice.
            The correct refrigerant charge is 700g +/- 50g.
