  • Cracked (but still working) Steering Rack

Just been checking over a friend's 3rd gen (my second gen is waiting for paint to dry so I had to work on something else!) and it would appear that the steering rack has cracked pretty much all the way round and has been miving itself backwards and forwards in the bushes across the car!! Odly enough - it's not leaking

What do I need to check with the 3 inch body lift and 2 inch suspension lift and 33" tyres that wer edone on the car before he bought it to make sure the cracking is not a result of a bad lift?

I have already found that the radiator drop brackets have not been fitted (can I get these individually, separate to a lift kit?) and the fan has been rubbing, the front ARB bushes are shot to sh*t. Basically it looks a bit cowboy.

Any advice would be much appreciated

He may have hit the steering rack on something, I don't think it will be as a result of the two lifts, didn't have to touch the steering rack for the two lifts on mine.
The rad didn't need dropping on mine either, just remove the lower rad shroud, I think it's just the 2.4's that need them.
Both Milners and Roughtrax do the steering rack exchange thing and both do the poly bushes for the ARB's but since RT seems to be out of stock on the racks at the mo, take a look here
