  • Strange Wiper Problem

    Hi All,

The wipers on the wife's Astra have gone mental!

They seem to stick in the middle of the cycle as if the rubber was sticking to the windscreen (unlikely).

They seem to work fine on FAST wipe and on NORMAL wipe but the intermittant wipe is acting very strangely!

When you shut them off they just stop wherever they are on the windscreen!

I can hear clicking from the relay etc.

So, should I be replacing/checking the actual wiper motor or relay?

    Thanks!

    Gary

Probably the motor. There's a park 'track' inside the motor, that'll be gubbed.
Do you know that, with a 50 character limit, it's

      re

I think you are right mate!

I was hoping that it was just the relay but after doing a google on it it seems that the motor is likely to be 'humped'.

Now to ring around the local scrappies, I've always hated the ones around here!

If I may offer a little further advise, the wiper motors on astra`s, Particularly the Mk4 or G model usually give up because the linkage is in the process of seizing up or the spindle bearings have packed in. Worth checking, might save you mincing a new motor
