If you need one in a hurry go to the local motor factors and get a universal one!
From about £6 (unipart ) to £13 (local high st)
Just need to lift it and take the wheel off then follow the instructions!
they wrap around the shaft then glue together!
Did one on saturday (had to do 300 mile round trip sunday) took about an hour!

I wont leave it permanently as i dont think it will last, but i have all four new ones in my garage so just waiting for better weather to whip the halfshafts out!

ive got the ones from rough trax, so hopefully with some good weather i can get them done. they seem quite straight forward to do after looking through my repair manual. but we shall see.

I found the off side dead easy, nearside a bit tighter and more tricky.

Hardest part was getting the hubs off. Needed help for that.

I began with the old M8 set screws but to no avail. My tame mechanic got them off in about three minutes a side. Git!

Well i have finally done my drive shaft gaitors both the inner and the outer. it was much easier than i thought.

simply unbolted the 6 bolts from drive shaft on the front diff and then the snap ring and spacer from the drive shaft.

then i removed the anto roll bar drop link.

next was to support the front diff with a jack and remove the mounting bolt and nut so the diff can be raised up out of the way. and also jack up the lower suspension arm so the drive shaft can then be removed.

then i removed the inner boot and the tulip joint, wiped away all the old grease. next was to remove the snap ring so the tripod can then be removed from the drive shaft.

this then gives access to the outter boot gaitor which was the one that was split.

when the new boot and new grease has been installed on the outter joint, i then installed the inner boot followed by the tripod and stabbed my self with the screw driver while installing the snap ring.

after a plaster was fitted to my hand i then fitted the tulip joint and tightened all the boot clips.

next was to install the drive shaft, and refit the 6 nuts to the diff.

put the spacer and snap ring back on to the outboard joint shaft lower the diff back down and put the bolt back through.

reconnect the anti roll bar drop link. and then torque the 6 nuts back up on the diff to 845 kg-cm, or 61 ft-lb or 83 N.m

next was to restall the hub flange and refit the wheel and hope i had no nuts or bolts left over afterwards.

job done total time from start to finsh including lunch and making of tea just over 3 hours. lol
