  • Impreza seats in Gen 3

    Hi All

Finally got some decent seats in my surf - just fitted a pair of 2006 Impreza STI buckets in the front just need my mate with his welder to weld up the new brackets (got a pair of gen 3 seats from a breaker and drilled out the rivets on the brackets to get them off, was scared to muck about with the originals in case it didnt work out and I had to put them back!) - just bolted on for now. Hardest job was removing 3 out of 4 of the scooby brackets, the rear one next to the door piller is a prefect match.

Look quite smart - they are the black ones with the blue alcantara down the centre. Got some blue alcantara fabric coming from fleebay so doors cards are next and then try and do something with the rear seats - be calling on the old dear and her sewing skills for that.

Will try and get a pic when its daylight and there is juice in the camera battery.

Got them off fleebay £210 for the pair and they are immaculate, luckily was within a 100 miles of me so just collected them as carriage to our part of the world is not cheap - anywhere north of Perth is apparently not UK mainland!!!

Will do - not had a chance to do anything in daylight but will get some tomorrow. Only thing I find is that you seem to sit a little bit higher than standard seats but soooo much more comfortable.

Here's a pic of the seats in situ - not sure how to reduce the file size but when I figure this out I'll post up some more. Really like them although not done a long journey as yet - definately a firmer ride but quite happy with that. What I did was got the 3 brackets that you need off an old set of seats from a breakers - removed the impreza brackets (except the rear one next to the door pillar as it lines up ok) - this was a bit of a job and took some time between drilling the rivets out and a mix of grinder and hacksaw to get the spot welds off - rear inside one was the worst. Then just got some high tensile nuts and bolts (Locking nuts) and did them up quite loose to start with - put the seats in and once the holes were all lined up, nipped these up to secure the brackets in place, took the seats out and my mate put some welds on at the back of the brackets for extra security.

The scooby seat belt holders take the existing toyota belts so no change there and and all i did for the driver side seat belt warning was to cut both connectors off and used male/female bullets to re connect and it all works fine.

Got some blue alcantara fabric off fleebay that is a really good match so door cards and arm rests are next.

I'm not the tallest (5ft,7 on a good day) and you do sit a little higher even with the height adjuster right down so be wary if you are much over 6ft or possibly have a sunroof. Hope this helps

Good job, I've been breaking a Subaru Legacy and am going to put the heated front seats from that in my truck soon.
