  • head gasket catastrophy

Well i dont have the original head gasket ...Is there a way of knowing which head gasget to buy when there is a choice of 3 from main dealer,
they are 3 different thicknesses ...what would happen if we put the thickest gasket on ???

Nowt, I think its what they supply to everyone ordering the kit, you could find out the real one but need to do the measurement of piston protrusion which is in the manual but mine runs great with the thickest, 5 hole one from roughtrax. Original on mine was 3 hole. H

if you don't have the tool to measure piston height just fit the thickest one, its all most places sell anyway.

Yeah, like they said - the thick one. Especially as you are getting head skimmed. Even if you knew what thickness the old one was you'd want a thicker one now.

            Good News

well after all the problems of trying to fix it before it broke taught me a lesson
If it aint broke dont fix it

I have got a toyota gasket type F after measuring the protusion of the piston , head has been skimmed it was 10mm out in the centre two pots

now i,m up and rtunning all seems well temp gauuge reached normal temp [in the middle] no knocks or rattles starts well having had 4 new glow plugs [ which strted all this in the first place one broke in the head]

If you had 10mm skimmed off you need the really thick gasket!
