We wanted to take my diff apart at least far enough to be sure that it was definately the problem - this is what we found:



Hmm... yep, it's definately the problem!

I agree with you guys though, there's no point going any further with this diff or trying to swap parts if I can just get a whole unit to bolt back up to the car.

Stormforce, we couldn't find any codes, any idea where to look for them please? The only writing on the casing we could find was "ADD. OIL TYPE GL-5 75-90", which I assume is just telling me what sort of oil to add. Or is "ADD." the code? Are the 3.0 diffs not all interchangeable, if I get one form the same year?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much did your one sell for, just so I have an idea of the going rate?

Thanks Stormforce. My VIN plate says "trans/axle" and has two sets of digits: A343F and G294. Can you tell me which one is the front diff, or do they both need to be the same?

Its the G294 code you need.If the number ended in a 5 then you will have a limited slip diff

G294, is 4:10 gears, should have pink paint on the pinion nut, and 41 teeth on the the ring gear, 10 on the pinion.
