  • Speedo out by 10mph

Bought my surf back in May and recently got round to figuring out how far out the speedo is...turns out that it reads 10mph more than it's actually doing.

Is there any way of adjusting this or is it to do with tyre size (265/70 R15)....or is life just too short & I should just accept it!

    Cheers, paul

have you got a non standard diff in? I was expecting you to say it read under, not over....!
gearing must be lower to show higher mph on display...

If it was a gearing issue, it wouldn't be a constant 10mph discrepancy. Either the needle is on wrong or his benchmark is wrong.

My guess too, if it's had a face change.

i tried one of the faces to convert to mph and when i checked mine with a satnav it was 8mph to fast and got worse the faster it went i also tried the electronic converter and that put the flashing o/d light on removed it so i just left the kph face on and learnt to read kph instead

both my old 2.4 and the new 3rd gen read 10% over. the 2.4 had a mph face, the 3rd gen says mph but you can just see where the k in kmph has been coloured in with a marker pen! so i assume its got the electronic 'fix' - i am happy with it reading high. i was well impressed when i hit the ton (on an airfield, not the motor way, obviously) even though i knew it was only 90!!!

10% is understandable. 10mph is something wrong.

As I get older, it suits me to frustrate all the Audi drivers by cruising at 50'ish..
