Is there any colour to the liquid thats coming off of the bashplate as it may be coolant from the expansion bottle or maybe the drip off pipe that comes out of the bulkhead on the passenger side

If its a reddish colour then i would say ATF (automatic tranmission fluid)
The bash plate will have to come off to check it properly.the metal pipes run along the bottom of the drivers side of the engine and then rubber pipes to the bottom of the rad which is the atf cooler.I would check these pipes first and probably take the old clips off and fit jubilee clips instead as it may be leaking a bit past the old clips.better still get some new rubber pipe and fit on there and new jubilee clips. If 2 of you do it then you can do it without losing hardly any of the atf

If it's a brown coloured fluid, and it's not oil, and your expansion tank is manky, and it apperas to be coming from the driver's side...........

It'll be coolant from the bottom hose on the radiator.

                      It's not a 2.5 by the way, unless it's been re-bored.
