  • Wheel Sqeals and metalic rubbing sound

    Hi Y'all

My SSR-X has developed a concerning sqeal on the offside front wheel. It sounds metalic and appears to be something rubbing but after a number of scrutinies I cannot see anything to cause this.

It started as a single click a little like a stone in the tyre but has now developed into a continuous sound. It is not present when the vehicle is stationary.

Any suggestions or ideas will be gratefully received.

    Cheers Gwllchmai.

Have you tried jacking up the wheel and rotating by hand to see if you can locate the source of the noise?

Could be the wear indicators on the front pads.

Its a metal clip on the pad that rubs on the front disk when they are getting low. Irritating.
      I NEED TO OFFROAD!

I think Danno may be right - I had the same noise with mine. When I looked I had bent the wear indicator slightly when cleaning the brakes. When straightened the noise was gone.

Thanks to you all there is certainly some food for thoughtthere and as soon as I can get outside (the rain etc) I will take a look and see if your prognoses are correct.

          Thanks Gwllchmai
