  • autobox 2.4 problem

Hi all - newbie - surf 2.4td import- drives great - generally drives great, but if under load is godawful slow to get moving. With foot flat on the floor even in low box, the revs simply do not pick up- creep forward and ever so slowly revs increase, then the power and acceleration appear. Seems more to be a `wont rev up` problem under load, then the box itself. Any obvious pointers ?

don't drive in 4wd on the road. You need to be on loose/slippery surfae to use 4wd as there is no centre diff
First of all have the filters been changed at akll.If not then get them done and then fill the new fuel filter with ATF or Redex and then drive the truck like you stole it for a few miles.
Try this first and then come back if theres no change

Hi, yep about 4wd on road no diff - but had to resort to low box simply to get moving to a downhill slope when exiting up a slip road off the m4!!, then back into high ratio on a down slope and all fine again unless I had to stop again. . Fuel filters all fine, engine oil changed, once actually moving, power comes on fine revs pick up - normal power. It is the getting moving from stationery - engine simply wont `rev` as you would expect with an auto - barely rises over tickover. If put in neutral- fine and revs up well. back into gear and back on tickover even with foot planted firmly down. (and was only an empty trailer !). Same happens in reverse on a steep slope no trailer- foot down but whether high or low box, barely creeps past tickover. But does 70 happily once the revs pick up !
