  • Smell of fuel

    Hi Folks,
Just a quick one, when i start the truck in the morning i get a very strong deisel smell for a second or so (like unburnt fuel) when i tried it last night then it dissapears(no clouds of smoke or anything tho). Checked the pump and fuel lines and they seem ok, am i right in thinking that its the glow plugs that need replacing?
The sh$t gets deeper ...but still swimming

If it's the glow plugs you'll probably be cranking for ages with a load of smoke before start so you'd know if it was them.

    Thanks,

    Ray.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

The smell disappears after a few seconds even without driving off anywhere?
Get someone else to turn it over and see if the exhaust is where the smell is coming from. I don't advocate sniffing exhaust pipes too much though but one go should be enough to tell?

        Thanks,

        Ray.
