Gary,

OK, try and copy the picture, put the die, pin up,
on the flaring bar, push the pipe thru it until it's
level with the first step on the die, that should be
the correct length to get a good flare, if not let me
know and we'll try again. Hope this does'nt sound
to condisending to you mate, but keep going.

On my die there is no step or indication of how far the pipe should protrude!

There is no guide anywhere on the kit.

Most of it has been guesswork for me!

Usually, in mm, how far should it be from the level part of the tool?

be precise

Albannach, Didn't come with anything resembling instructions mate, I suppose they didn't foresee eejits like me trying to DIY pipe flares!

I decided to call it a day!

The local garage said that they will flare the pipes for a fiver!

Am really concerned as the astra offside front brakepipe winds it's way through the engine in allsorts of wierd directions!

The old one was a bugger to get out so possibly be a super mega job to fit again!

Sort of wish I didn't do it now, however cash is very tight at the moment!
