  • tyres for 3rd gen standard 16" rims

    Hi all,

Gonna get me some new tyres for the 3rd gen 16" rims. Currently standard suspension, but i'm going for 20% uprated springs / shocks.

60% onroad, 40% offroad or similar.

what are your thoughts on make, size and type.

Got Kumho 78's on the 2.4 at present - very pleased.

Kumho don't do a 275/70 in that, could go 265/75 - anyone have any tales to tell?

I guess more importantly what makes to AVOID?

Ive got 265x75s ( GG AT2) on mine with no lifts or uprated springs. They are fine with no rubbing or contact anywhere although I think that might not be the case if it got some lumpy offroading. Other 3rd gen owners have reported rubbing on full lock with 265x75s even on road. Standard 3rd gen tyre is (265x70). Im sure you have read it on here at some time but the GG AT is a good wearing tyre with nothing in the way of road rumbling noise.

My 265/70/16's rub the arches but only after I put the 30mm spacers on, currently running standard suspension (at the mo).
