Took bad shortcut, knocking on left side

On my way to hasting tip yesterday, decided to take a bad shortcut off road and through a few deep puddels, got a little petrol headed and put my foot down took some heavy knocks. on my way to work this morning everytime i hit a bump get a knocking from the left wheel arch. any ideas?
its just recently had a brand new Steering Idler, dont think its that because that caused swaying of the steering when it went, no swaying just knocks.
Not causing any imediate problem but irritating!

Shock absorber?

There's loads of stuff that clunks down there. Top ball joints are a favorite (mine clunked when on the way out) but cheap and easy to swap.

only real way to find out is get under there with a bar and prod it arround some then! :P
